45^th REUNION

June 10, 11 and 12, 2011

Dear FLHS Classmate,

We’re excited about our 45^th Reunion and hope all of you are making plans now to attend. Response so far has been great. Many have told us through our initial calls and emails that they’re planning to attend their very first reunion and, of course, we have many who attend each reunion. June is fast approaching, as most dates do at this age, so book your reservations now to take advantage of discounted airline fares for early booking.

Note: A complimentary Happy Hour, 5-7 p.m. and breakfast will be provided to hotel guests.

Schedule of Events:

Friday, June 10. The hospitality suite, Room 821, will be open all day for classmates to meet and greet. Our Friday night event will include a disc jockey and light menu. The hotel bar, close by, will be available for pay-as-you-go drinks. Casual dress.

Saturday, June 11 During the day you can visit with friends by the beautiful pool, relax in our hospitality suite, or ask the concierge about available activities in Fort Lauderdale. A dinner buffet will feature pasta, beef and chicken dishes. The DJ will return for another evening of oldie goldies. Drinks available at hotel bar. You can dance, watch or talk the night away. Once again dress will be casual.

Sunday, June 12. If you’re staying at the Embassy, make plans to join friends in the hotel lobby dining area for a complimentary breakfast (to hotel guests) and one last good bye. It will be a great way to wind up a weekend to remember.

Memorabilia room: If you were at the last few reunions, you know we display FLHS and alumni memorabilia. Help update our display with photos by sending copies we can keep of current family pictures, old high school pictures and photos from past reunions. If you are unable to attend the reunion, we would like to include a picture of you and your family. Please label photo from left to right.

Activities: Check with the hotel concierge before or during the reunion to see what’s available that weekend.

Alumni Directory: Once again we will be compiling a directory after the reunion. The cost will be included in our last bulletin sent before the reunion.

Thanks for all the donations, every dollar helps make our reunions special. We hope to see everyone the weekend of June 10th. Remember, a reunion is as great as the attendees and more valued as each five years passes.

Dear Classmates,

Some of you have already received your 45th reunion directory. The remainder of the directories are being sent tomorrow. The printer had a machine malfunction and we only got part of the order last week. We just picked up the remaining directories today which will be sent to you tomorrow. (Thur., Jan. 6) The directories were sent on a first come first serve basis.

We tried our best to get them to you before the holidays which was a huge task. The committee would like to thank Joan Morris Holzer who almost single handedly created this incredible directory. She did the layout, story lines, corrected pictures and continued to up date the latest information until the last possible moment. You'll know what we mean when you see this outstanding directory.

Thanks to Joan's husband Blaine '64 for doing the major amount of editing. He along with Stella Guary O'Brien and Kathy Cobb Swartzwelder insured that all the right names were with all the right pictures.

Additional thanks goes to Wanda Mathis Irwin for providing numerous candid pictures from both Friday and Saturday night, as well as pictures from the hospitality room.
